RESEARCH INTEREST
My current research is at the interface of chemistry and biology: The main part involves the synthesis of carbohydrate-based biological tool compounds. The second part is centered around evaluating the new compounds against enzymes and bacteria. A number of derivatives will be tested for their antibacterial activities. Other sets of compounds will serve as sensitive and selective tool compound for the screening of metagenomic libraries in search of new glycosidases.
